This study explores the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in a southern California high school, aiming to enhance educational practices through strategic professional development (PD). A mixed-methods approach, including surveys, interviews, and classroom observations, evaluated the current state of AI use, developed tailors PD, and assessed its impact on teachers. Initial findings revealed limited AI awareness and apprehension among teachers. The PD improved AI literacy and instructional practices, evidenced by the use of AI-powered platforms and project-based learning. This work highlights the importance of incremental learning and real-world applications in PD, demonstrating the potential of AI to transform education and provide a model for other institutions. Future research will examine long-term impacts and evolving AI tools.
