Self-assessment is crucial for enhancing learning independence, especially in music education. However, little research has explored the differences in the impact of audiovisual feedback tools on musical students' self-assessment. This qualitative study recruited six music education majors and compared video, audio, and control groups to explore the effects of different audiovisual feedback modalities. Results showed video and audio feedback have distinct pros and cons, suggesting educators should tailor feedback strategies to student goals. Audio feedback is suitable for auditory element assessment, while video feedback is better for a comprehensive evaluation. This study provides valuable insights into music education and self-directed learning strategies, recommending students to schedule recordings wisely and ensure high recording quality to benefit fully from audiovisual feedback tools.
