Abstract

This systematic literature review investigates the impact of mobile makerspaces on academic performance and career competencies in primary to post-secondary education. By exploring the intersection of play-based learning and STEM disciplines, this review examines the innovative role of mobile makerspaces in facilitating creativity and critical thinking. It also discusses the Imaginarium Express at Mississippi State University, a mobile initiative providing STEAM-based learning to rural Mississippi students. Analyzing peer-reviewed journal articles, the review identifies key themes in design thinking, mobility, and implementation challenges. This research aims to bridge educational disparities by enhancing access to informal learning experiences and promoting equitable STEM education.
