Session Type: Symposium
Relationship-based coaching is a key form of professional development (PD) that positively impacts educators’ practices and children’s outcomes. The papers in this session focus on coaches’ and educators’ perspectives of coaching inclusive PD across diverse sectors of early care and education (ECE), including center, state-funded and home-based child care, and using coaching to target specific as well as broad domains of practice, with attention to supporting equitable ECE. The insights from this work help illuminate how to best support diverse educators and coaches in ECE and highlight key elements to be considered when bringing coaching to scale across a state, across broader implementation of Tier 2 supports for social-emotional development, and in supporting anti-bias, culturally responsive care.
