Session Type: Symposium
Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) - when implemented well - can improve student outcomes. SEL assessments that provide formative, actionable information are needed to help educators make decisions on how to improve the equitable practice of SEL. This session reports on a series of pilot studies of the Berkeley Assessment of Social Emotional Learning -- a survey designed to center equity, uplift voice, and drive change. Accordingly, this symposium includes papers on student perceptions, measurement invariance testing, and how one district used the measure to generate data and take critical actions to promote equity.
