Session Type: Symposium
Global developments such as climate change, migration and rising inequalities have significantly diversified communities and school populations. In addition, policy measures like the Salamanca Statement (UNESCO, 1994) and the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN, 2006) have promoted greater integration of children with additional needs into mainstream schools. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 4 calls for "inclusive and equitable quality education and lifelong learning opportunities for all." This symposium examines how learning environments can foster equitable and inclusive educational futures for learners of various ages in formal settings. The symposium previews papers to be published in a Special Issue of the Learning Environments Research Journal in 2025.
