Session Type: Symposium
This symposium offers a multi-perspectival exploration of pre-service teacher (PST) learning experiences within one justice-oriented teacher preparation program. This symposium offers a holistic view of the program's opportunities for PSTs to engage with justice, equity, and community issues across methods coursework and student teaching (Cochran-Smith, 2023; Feiman-Nemser & Buchmann, 1985). This is a critically important area for teacher education today, in order to better understand how to prepare teachers as central actors in educational transformation and renewal. By interrogating these experiences from the perspectives of teacher candidates, mentor teachers, and early career graduates, the session sheds light on PSTs' learning opportunities related to justice and equity-oriented practices.
