Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will focus on teacher educators’ use of Teacher Moments, an open-sourced, web-based tool where novices practice their teaching in fully-automated digital clinical simulations that replicate authentic classroom scenarios. We will share five different ways that teacher educators have designed, implemented, and researched outcomes associated with equity-promoting simulations across varied instructional contexts. This work illustrates what is technically possible and educationally purposeful when using digital clinical simulations as a mechanism for preparing the next generation of educators to center equity in their teaching. Collectively, this work addresses persistent calls-to-action for teacher preparation programs to increase their focus on equity pedagogy through innovative and scalable practices.
