Session Type: Symposium
This session brings together researchers and practitioners who are working to promote evidence-based strategies for infusing supports for social and emotional learning (SEL) into academic instruction and enrichment activities in a variety of contexts. This integrated approach to SEL draws on the science of learning and development, aiming to ensure that young people experience safe and supportive environments throughout their school days and in their afterschool activities. The aims of this session are to (1) present evidence regarding whole-child approaches across a range of age groups and contexts; (2) engage attendees in a conversation about effective and equitable strategies for enacting these approaches; and (3) share actionable guidance to inform practice and future research.
