Session Type: Symposium
Although the systemic racialized and gendered marginalization Black women and girls face in k-12 systems and its harms are well documented, the educational experiences of Black women and girls are some of the least studied–and have been for generations. This symposium brings together educational researchers to visibilize research about the educational experiences of Black women and girls in an effort to repair educational harm and redouble our commitment to effective practices that support Black women and girls. Spanning the history of Black girls’ education to historically Black female faculty marginalization, this symposium expands our understanding of the educational experiences, needs, assets and arguments for research focused on/about Black women and girls.
