Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

Personalization is critical for maximizing learning outcomes, acknowledging students’ individual cultural identities, and addressing diverse student needs. Artificial Intelligence (AI) plays an important role in creating educational technologies that enable efficient and scalable personalization. However, integrating teacher input in designing these AI-powered tools is crucial. This ensures that educational solutions are aligned with students’ and teachers’ needs. This symposium presents findings from one-on-one interview and focus group studies with teachers aimed at co-designing AI-powered educational tools. The goal is to incorporate teachers’ perspectives, ensuring the development of equitable, impactful, and scalable educational technologies. By reflecting teachers’ insights, these tools are better equipped to address the unique challenges and dynamics of various assessment and learning environments, ultimately enhancing educational outcomes.
