Session Type: Symposium
This symposium panel will examine repair as a praxis through which scholars, practitioners, and communities can imagine and make just futures of education. Thinking with Sriprakash et al’s (2020, 2022) “reparative futures of education” framework alongside theories of reparation and redress (for example, Táíwò 2021; Aslam 2023) we interrogate the practices, politics, and stakes of material, epistemic, and pedagogic reparations of educational injustices. Papers in the session explore the historical-structural formations of racial and class injustices in education across different geographies: South Africa, England, Liberia, India, and the United States. In doing so, we collectively examine the interconnected possibilities of repair as a globally-significant lens for educational justice.
