This three-paper symposium highlights the latest research on both pre-service and in-service professional development of educators to effectively work in community schools by strengthening family-school-community partnerships. The symposium offers a critical look into the core competences, reflective, and mentoring practices that promote relational trust, teacher preparation and retention, and strong partnerships within community schools. The symposium is designed to illuminate the latest theory, research, and practices, as well as to engage participants in an interactive dialogue about building capacity of educators to lead in equity- and community centered ways
