Session Type: Roundtable Session
High impact tutoring has emerged as one of the most effective strategies for accelerating student learning rapidly. In a recent meta-analysis of 96 randomized controlled trials, researchers reported a pooled effect of 0.37 SD on academic achievement from high impact tutoring programs. Despite this considerable potential, there are financial, logistical, and staffing barriers to bringing high impact tutoring to scale. In this symposium, leaders of four major high impact tutoring programs (i.e., SAGA, the Transformative Tutoring Initiative, Oklahoma Math Corps, the National Student Support Accelerator for Learning) describe barriers to scaling high impact tutoring in their specific programs, strategies for overcoming barriers, and results of their respective programs. Presenters also consider future initiatives to bring high impact tutoring to scale.
