A Global Perspective of the Landscape of Research on Teachers’ Beliefs

Fri, April 25, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 3A

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

Teachers’ beliefs are a critical aspect of the learning experiences that teachers mediate for their learners. They may have explicit or hidden influences that make classrooms more or less equitable. Several substantive reviews of this literature exist, yet there is work done to integrate these diverse frameworks. Teachers’ belief research has expanded to address contemporary topics (e.g., racism, climate change, LGBTQ+). In this session, we provide an international perspective on the state of current research on teachers’ beliefs via poster presentations of 12 literature reviews across a range of disciplinary areas. We will engage in an interactive discussion of how researchers in this area can work towards the goal of “Research, Remedy, and Repair: Toward Just Education Renewal.”
