Session Type: Roundtable Session
This symposium builds on last year's Black Teacher Archive (BTA) Summer Research Institute, focusing on culturally responsive archival practices. Panelists, emerging historians from the second BTA institute, analyze early 20th-century Colored Teachers Associations' records from Southern states. They will explore these publications as artifacts, literature, and data, and discuss various approaches to studying the Black Teacher Archive. Presentations will feature epistemological, ontological, and historiographical questions, offering insights into how archival research can reveal the untold stories and contributions of Black educators.
