Session Type: Symposium
This symposium shares key strategies we utilized to develop and establish collaborative partnerships with African and Caribbean Ministries/Departments of Education. Strategies include using strategic volunteerism; adopting cultural anthropologist approaches to understanding key issues; creating space that allows stakeholders frames of knowledge alongside institutional realities to emerge; effectively navigating subtle power hierarchies; and using participatory action research to create a safety net for local government to voice their needs without fear of being victimized or investigated. We share these strategies to initiate conversation on how we may go about formally establishing the CASE SIG as a central hub for collaborative partnerships with African and Caribbean Ministries/Departments of Education to support just educational initiatives and sustainable development.
