Session Type: Symposium
This session features Asian American and Pacific Islander women leaders (AAPIWL) in K-20 educational settings who are dedicated to creating racially just programs that support marginalized student populations. Resistance often arises when engaging in racial justice leadership work, and AAPIWL face unique forms of oppression. Through various engagements in storywork (such as counterstories, kuwentos, autoethnography), we present perspectives that illustrate resistance, resilience, belief, and hope in ourselves, our communities and our futures. The AAPIWL panelists will not only discuss their experiences of marginality within leadership roles in K-20 educational institutions but also explore what is needed to heal and establish a foundation for liberatory leadership that will ultimately benefit our students, colleagues, and institutions.
