Session Type: Symposium
This symposium brings together critical scholars to center the experiences of Black girls, girls of color, and women of color educators across content areas. The five papers in this symposium draw on education research invested in remedying and repairing the educational experiences of these girls and women of color towards educational renewal. Through diverse critical theoretical and methodological approaches that center the intersectional identities of our participants, these papers are aligned with approaching research with an ethic of care. Our findings highlight the importance of affirming and validating the experiences of Black girls, girls of color, and women of color educators. We emphasize embodied knowledges, and holistic well-being, addressing and reimagining educational contexts to resist oppressive and colonial logics.
