Fri, April 25, 1:30 to 3:00pm MDT (1:30 to 3:00pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 707

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

This session examines the intersection of digital technologies and young children's agency in early childhood education. Presentations highlight common themes of fostering autonomy and ethical engagement: from guiding preschoolers' interactions with robots to developing caring thinking, implementing ethical practices for children's assent in digital research, and leveraging health and safety technologies to enhance agency in kindergartens. Further, the session explores recognizing emotional expressions in competitive games, enhancing digital literacy through embodied learning in mixed reality, and understanding the family-preschool dynamic in urban China. Collectively, these studies provide a cohesive insight into how digital tools can empower children's voices, choices, and development, emphasizing the critical role of educators in this digital transformation.
