Sat, April 26, 5:10 to 6:40pm MDT (5:10 to 6:40pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 108

Session Type: Workshop

Abstract

This session aims to address how critical peace education fosters room for remedy and repair, even in countries that are not directly affected by conflict. It engages the participants in activities and dialogue that aim to cultivate their reflexivity, conflict resolution skills, and ability to facilitate critical dialogue. Intergenerational injustice, historical harms, and civil rights issues will be highlighted and participants will be afforded examples of research that allowed us to imagine remedies for this harm. Furthermore, participants will be given the opportunity to discuss the impact of education in promoting peace and remedy within their own spheres and identify ways in which critical peace education can be promoted in their respective professions.
