Session Type: Symposium
U.S. colleges and universities are fraught with challenges and insufficiencies. This symposium brings together scholars from marginalized backgrounds who have conducted Critical Participatory Action Research (CPAR) for us, by us (FUBU). CPAR FUBU thus constitutes the application of the knowledge, connections, and efforts of racially and ethnically minoritized, queer, disabled, and other marginalized scholars to address community-specific needs in postsecondary education. We are not waiting for the University to save us; we will use the tools of love, spirit, and systematic inquiry to construct our own liberation. The symposium advocates for transformative learning and community empowerment within domestic U.S. educational landscapes. We challenge students and educators to implement these strategies and co-create our own futures.
