Session Type: Symposium
This symposium highlights diverse perspectives on working toward racial equity for students and educators. The papers in this session 1) describe the liberatory design framework for co-developing racial equity practices, 2) put forth suggested strategies for supporting equity leaders statewide, 3) examine the impact of restorative practices on racial equity in school climate, and 4) share qualitative thematic analysis of student and caregiver perspectives about addressing racism in school. Together, these papers provide attendees an overview of what is currently known about racial equity practices and provide future directions for research, practice, and policy. Attendees will be invited to contribute their perspectives in a question and answer panel with the session presenters.
