Session Type: Symposium
This session examines the application of Critical Race Studies across educational contexts. We present research that: 1) Explores one institute of higher education’s response to a PK-12 school district’s CRT ban; 2) Examines a Critical Race Solidarity Framework informed by AsianCrit; 3) Advances Critical Race Pedagogy as it applies to office hours; and 4) A case study braiding trauma-informed pedagogies with CRT. We share research that illuminates transformational methodological, pedagogical, and conceptual tools of CRT to interrogate and disrupt the persistence of white supremacy and interlocking oppressions in education. Collectively, we offer insights for researchers to use CRT as remedy and repair, amplifying explanatory frameworks of critical race praxis in service of students and communities of Color.
