Session Type: Symposium
Anti-DEIJ (diversity, equity, inclusion, justice) efforts seek to undo the advancement of antiracist and social justice practice in schools. School counselors are well-equipped to counter DEIJ resistance IF they believe they can and receive the training and support needed to stand as equity leaders. This symposium, featuring counselor educators, will address several important questions related to antiracist and social justice (ARSJ) school counseling: What does it involve? How capable do counselors feel to advance ARSJ practice in their schools? How can counselor education and professional development effectively prepare confident ARSJ advocates and change agents? The session concludes by sharing best practices in training counselors to believe in their capabilities to serve as ARSJ leaders in their schools and communities.
