Session Type: Symposium
This symposium will be in a plática format, witnessing how Latina and Black women ECE educators find space to build community through their research. The three papers for the symposium focus on: 1) developing a replicable model that can serve other marginalized groups in higher education, fostering inclusive and supportive learning environments, 2) discussing Black women ECE teachers need for Sista Circle spaces and opportunities to build a Black science epistemology in order to engage in this work from a place of wellness, and 3) presents findings of the socio-spatial experiences of systemic sexism and racism on Latina and Black women educators, and its influence on their identity and positionality throughout their schooling and teaching.
