Session Type: Working Group Roundtable
The forthcoming “Handbook of Research Methods and Methodologies for the Social Sciences” (Routledge, 2025) promises to be an essential compendium for scholars, graduate students, and educators. It covers foundational research techniques, quantitative and qualitative methodologies, and also delves into mixed, community-based, and critical methodologies. The Handbook serves as a tool for both novice and seasoned researchers to explore methods beyond their initial training. Coinciding with the AERA 2025 Theme, a roundtable discussion is proposed, focusing on the application of research in critical, creative, and community settings to foster just education. Experts will share insights from various methodologies, including critical ethnography and arts-informed research, emphasizing the importance of continual learning and adaptability in research practices, especially in efforts to address educational inequities.
