Session Type: Workshop
The time is now for higher education institutions to systematically integrate social-emotional learning (SEL) into all aspects of postsecondary environments—through professional development, policies, pedagogy, and programming—in order for campuses to become ecosystems conducive to wellbeing, belonging, inclusive excellence, and prosocial engagement (Lee et al., 2021). This workshop will be facilitated by research practitioners representing different U.S.-based universities. Workshop facilitators will each share case studies that offer specific practical and actionable approaches faculty/staff/administrators can take to cultivate and sustain an SEL ecosystem on higher education campuses. These shared case studies, which include transformative SEL (TSEL) integration in higher education, will be followed by interactive reflective discussion and naming of actionable next steps in myriad contexts.
