Exploring Student SES and OTL From the Perspectives of Large-Scale Education Studies (Table 2)

Fri, April 25, 11:40am to 1:10pm MDT (11:40am to 1:10pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Ballroom Level, Four Seasons Ballroom 2-3

Session Type: Roundtable Session

Abstract

Understanding and improving educational outcomes and promoting equity requires a critical examination of measures of SES and OTL from the perspective of large-scale education studies. These studies provide comprehensive and comparable data that show how SES and OTL measures impact student achievement across different contexts and learning environments. The valuable insights gained from these studies have the potential to significantly inform policies and practices aimed at promoting educational equity, quality, and effectiveness. Presenters in this symposium explore how measures such as resources, school climate, and teacher factors relate to student experiences and achievement using data from various large-scale education studies such as NAEP, TIMSS, and PISA.
