Session Type: Symposium
This interactive symposium on Culturally Responsive Classroom Management (CRCM) will reflect on the state of the literature, identify key issues, discuss potential remedies, and inspire future research. Since CRCM's introduction, disparities in discipline for culturally diverse students persist, indicating challenges in effectively training teachers. A scoping review of approximately 180 reports suggests inherent issues in the CRCM model and inadequate scientific methods to address these complexities. The symposium will use deliberative argumentation to explore inconsistent terminology, the role of culture in classroom management, and CRCM's integration with other models. Through live collaboration, we aim to clarify and repair research gaps and inspire new remedies for equitable classroom management.
