Abstract

This demonstration explores the use AI-generated feedback to enhance students' research writing skills in a Psychology Research Methods course. The presenter will demonstrate the process of developing and testing prompts for AI chatbots to evaluate student research papers. Examples will show how AI chatbots provide feedback on grammar, clarity, structure, and actionable improvement suggestions based on a rubric. Additionally, the discussion will cover how instructors can offer higher-order content feedback alongside AI feedback. This approach aims to bridge educational disparities in writing support by providing consistent, timely, high-quality feedback while reducing instructor workload. AI an be a valuable tool for enhancing student research writing, though further refinement of AI prompts is needed to provide targeted feedback.
