Bridging the Gap: Enhancing Research Use in Research-Practice Partnerships Based Across the Globe

Fri, April 25, 8:00 to 9:30am MDT (8:00 to 9:30am MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 3A

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

Research-practice partnerships (RPPs) have emerged in recent years as a promising strategy for “bridging the gap” between education research and practice (Coburn et al., 2013; Coburn et al., 2021). These long-term, mutualistic partnerships aim to address practical problems through research-informed solutions (Desimone et al., 2016). Although RPPs reimagine how actors on the research and practice sides collaborate (Farrell et al., 2021), enhanced research use cannot be a foregone conclusion: challenges persist and RPPs must intentionally attend to these. In this structured poster session, we explore some of the challenges and strategies to supporting research use, focusing on a wide range of partnership contexts that span RPP age, scope of work, organizations involved, and country-specific conditions.
