Session Type: Symposium
With growing interest in the experiences of youth of color and racial justice, there is a need for complex designs that capture nuanced, intersectional experiences. This symposium explores the development and validation of socially just and anti-racist measures through Critical Race Mixed Methodology (CRMM). The first paper describes how CRMM can be used to examine the intersectional challenges faced by youth of color, and the second and third papers apply CRMM by analyzing factorial invariance of a school racial socialization measure for Black and Latine youth and by developing and validating a measure of African American STEM identity. By centering marginalized voices, this symposium addresses methodological innovations advancing racial justice, contributing to more inclusive measurement and equitable educational practices.
