Harnessing Digital Strategies to Advance Middle-Grades Math Learning: Insights From a Researcher-Practitioner Partnership Collaboratory

Thu, April 24, 1:45 to 3:15pm MDT (1:45 to 3:15pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Terrace Level, Bluebird Ballroom Room 2A

Session Type: Structured Poster Session

Abstract

Adoption of digital math tools has accelerated in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic and as tools advance significantly in their technological sophistication and capability. Widespread adoption of AI and machine learning to support learning and instruction as well as new research methodologies leveraging large datasets promise to profoundly impact math instruction. Without deliberate attention to questions of equity, widespread adoption of digital instructional and research tools may compound long-standing racial and gender gaps in math learning. This interactive poster session features multiple researcher-practitioner partnerships, all part of a unique national Collaboratory, engaged in implementation research on digital strategies to close gaps in math learning and support the motivation, engagement and persistence of historically marginalized students.
