Session Type: Symposium
The symposium takes a systematic perspective in discussing academic development of Chinese adolescents, including their perceived academic stress, negative emotions towards failure, persistence in learning, and academic performance. Through three presentations, the mutual influences that adolescents and their immediate environment (parents and teachers) have on each other within the broader cultural and educational contexts of China will be highlighted. Before the presentations, the chairs will discuss how the symposium maps onto the extended Bronfenbrenner’s bioecological model (Ferguson & Evans, 2019). There will be dedicated time to engage the audience.
