Session Type: Paper Session
The project encompassed multiple elements of research and creative activity to include urban education, as a formative area of inquiry and cultural exchange. This cultural exchange portion called Mothership Connections extends the work of Echoes, which also has a student research component in the form of a virtual cohort with undergraduates from Bahia, Cape Coast, Ghana, Barbados, Atlanta, GA, and IU Indianapolis. The papers comprising this vice-presidential session will explore aspects of the aspirational outcomes of Mothership Connections. The discussants will explore the project’s themes and their implications for deeper explorations into transnational African Diasporic frameworks for translational research. The discussants will present on the ways Mothership Connections activities converged to generate new pathways to scholarship during the trip.
