Session Type: Roundtable Session
This roundtable explores identity development, motivation, and career interest in STEM and STEAM fields among girls, historically marginalized, and underrepresented adolescents in physical and virtual informal learning environments. By examining identity formation, belonging, and career interests and utilizing a variety of culturally relevant and reinforcing methods, the studies in this session provide insights into how informal learning environments, equity-anchored practices, and mentorship affect STEM identity formation and career interests. Presenters and participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussion about designing inclusive informal learning environments to foster career interests and engagement in STEM/STEAM fields.
