Session Type: Roundtable Session
This roundtable showcases key contributions exploring the cultural and educational significance of drag shows and drag as an art form amidst rising anti-drag legislation. Contributions addressed how drag pedagogies intersect with discourses on race, class, and identity. The special issue also included analyses of television episodes and drag performances, offering insights and critiques into the ways pedagogies of queer television can highlight the impact of broader anti-LGBTQ+ policies. By focusing on both U.S. and international perspectives, the special issue underscored drag’s complex role in contemporary social, educational, and political debates.
