Session Type: Roundtable Session
Scholars in this roundtable will share research related to the important role of political emotions in young people’s citizenship and the education fostering it. Building on the existing body of knowledge on political emotions and educational theory, one paper will contribute to a more holistic theorization and conceptualization of the role of political emotions in democratic citizenship education. In addition, scholars will share results from a systematic literature review of 21st century civic education literature and the extent to which dispositions are conceptualized and operationalized. Finally, scholars will present a philosophical analysis of the tension between two competing narratives about higher education and citizenship education.
