Indigenous leadership, research, and self-determination are vital concepts in the empowerment and resilience of Indigenous communities worldwide. Our peoples focus on collective well-being rather than individual gain by emphasizing traditional knowledge systems, sustainable practices, and community cohesion. Our right to self-determination encompasses governing our lands, preserving our cultures, and making autonomous decisions about our communities' futures. This autonomy challenges historical and ongoing injustices, allowing us, as Indigenous leaders, to advocate for our own policies, restore traditional governance systems, and promote socioeconomic development that aligns with our cultural values and environmental stewardship. Through self-determination, we reclaim our voice and agency, ensuring that our identities and ways of life are protected and celebrated for future generations.
