Session Type: Business Meeting
This year's business meeting with focus on renewing and broadening Deweyan conceptions of praxis in education. Of particular interest at this meeting will be putting Dewey in conversation with the work of Paulo Freire (1970, 1997), Jean Lave (2019), and Patricia Carini (2001, 2012) to understand the limits and strengths of Dewey's thought and renew a discussion of praxis. This business meeting will bring together many of the ongoing tensions within the critical Pragmatist turn in Deweyan scholarship that have impacted the relevance of Dewey in the 21st century.
