Session Type: Poster Session
This session highlights the often unheard stories of Black students, focusing on how race, gender, and identity intersect to create unique educational challenges and opportunities. The featured papers explore diverse experiences, such as Black girls’ self-efficacy in artificial intelligence and the resilience of Black Caribbean boys studying literature. The session emphasizes culturally responsive pedagogies and initiatives like the Arthur Ashe Oral History Project. Systemic factors such as language policy and housing disparities are also addressed. Collectively, these studies challenge deficit narratives and showcase how Black students and educators navigate and transform educational environments.
