In the current legislative era, attacks on students' legal protections are increasing, making it crucial to understand the role of public education in a democracy and the role of democratic processes in education research and policy. Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR) emphasizes the importance of including marginalized students in identifying issues and leading efforts to address injustices. Division L is hosting a fireside chat on the role of participatory action, focusing on engaging youth in research, policy, and practice. The discussion will explore how researchers can use their knowledge, tools, and privilege to partner with youth ethically and equitably, featuring insights from researchers and community leaders working to amplify youth voices for more democratic and equitable educational outcomes.
