Thu, April 24, 1:45 to 3:15pm MDT (1:45 to 3:15pm MDT), The Colorado Convention Center, Floor: Meeting Room Level, Room 108

Session Type: Symposium

Abstract

In facing uncertainties, disruptions and challenges, education’s purpose needs to re-evaluated to enable human flourishing. The purpose of re-casting education into a broader human flourishing framework is to nurture individuals to flourish in the hope that they can contribute to the flourishing of the broader societies and economies they reside in (OECD, 2024). The goal of education for human flourishing can be achieved when every learner is provided with systemic enablers of equal educational opportunities and support, and flourishing continues from the present to the future (Stevenson, 2022). This symposium shares perspectives advocating human flourishing by re-thinking education’s purpose, how assessments may be re-designed for student flourishing, and how universities may be seen as peace builders to enable human flourishing across cultures and disciplines.
