Session Type: Symposium
Building on the foundational discussions of Part 1, this session explores innovative and alternative strategies that challenge conventional paradigms of educational provision. The presentations focus on emerging education models, such as vocational training and community-based initiatives, and the policy implications of integrating alternative pathways within formal systems. Framed by systems theory and the capability approach, the session critically examines the role of equity-driven policies and collaborative governance in addressing the root causes of systemic disparities.
This session adopts a forward-looking perspective, emphasising the potential of alternative revenue streams, decentralised frameworks, and holistic approaches to promote educational equity. The discussions aim to reimagine education as a transformative force capable of addressing historical inequities and fostering sustainable societal progress by synthesising insights from public, private, and alternative education sectors. Participants will leave with a nuanced understanding of how multidisciplinary strategies can redefine access, quality, and equity in education for the future.
