Abstract

Schools across the U.S. are grappling with multiple crises, one of which is the threat that climate change poses to well-being. This session will explore how we can prepare the next generation of climate scientists, legislators, and voters. We will describe a comprehensive, holistic approach to climate change education through which schools cultivate a broad range of learner outcomes, including scientific knowledge, digital information literacy, and commitment to civic engagement. By including voices from researchers, educators, and community groups, this session will foster meaningful conversations across sectors. Attendees will leave with practical steps to support educators and young people in tackling the climate crisis, emphasizing opportunities for cross-sector collaboration that advances access to high-quality climate change education.
