Session Type: Symposium
The panel will focus on how we, as researchers, mentor graduate students whose research is driven by justice issues within their communities. Many researchers are eager to approach their work through a social justice lens but often struggle with conceptualizing the injustices they observe and developing research that advocates for meaningful change. Our session will highlight various social justice-focused projects, with an emphasis on how to transform community challenges into impactful research studies that promote equity and avoid stigmatizing the communities involved. By the end of this presentation, audience members—especially graduate students—will gain a clearer understanding of how to address specific challenges in their communities through research.
