Abstract

The workshop, "Positionality in Action: Developing Tools to Recognize Bias Across Settings," sponsored and facilitated by the NCME Graduate Student Issues Committee, aims to enhance participants' expertise in crafting impactful positional statements across diverse contexts. Through interactive exercises, attendees will master the art of creating clear, concise, and transparent statements while addressing personal and research biases. Key learning objectives include understanding the essential structure of effective positional statements, applying techniques to articulate viewpoints convincingly, and integrating an awareness of personal bias into research measurement. Participants will engage in practical activities, receive targeted feedback, and apply their newly acquired skills to real-world scenarios. Designed for professionals, academics, and students, this workshop provides actionable strategies for developing well-supported positional statements that critically reflect potential biases.
