Abstract

Although numerous textbooks and scholarly articles illustrate the racial discrimination against black Americans, few research studies examine other minority groups who also experience racial injustice. International students are a new minority group. This comparative study illustrates Chinese and Indian international experiences’ of marginalization in United States higher education. Drawing on a qualitative study among 32 Chinese and Indian international students in X university, this study unravels the “Model Minority” myth among East Asian groups, including Chinese international students. Additionally, this research shows that Indian international students are marginalized by their “Brown accent,” and they are at the status of “un-American” in the US society.
