This qualitative study explores how language barriers shape the ways Latino immigrant parents support their children’s education at home. Based on twelve interviews with Spanish-speaking parents in the U.S., the study identifies key challenges in school communication, academic assistance, and access to resources. Findings reveal culturally grounded strategies such as emotional encouragement, structured routines, and reliance on family networks and translation tools. The analysis challenges deficit perspectives and calls for a broader, more inclusive understanding of parental involvement. Results underscore the need for linguistically and culturally responsive school practices that recognize home-based engagement as meaningful and legitimate.
